This conversion of a cinema complex into amphitheaters demonstrates the potential for adapting this type of 1980s building.

The architect's first priority was to ensure that the project was in line with sustainable development principles: the installation of bulkheads on the exterior walls and the replacement of window frames ensure the building's insulation, while its energy efficiency is optimized by an efficient heating system and double-flow ventilation. Beyond the technical updates, the architect has subtly rethought the original typology: unlike cinema-goers, who only use the site for the duration of a film, students are expected to live in the building. The most fundamental changes concern the spaces available outside the lecture theaters: the corridors are more than just passageways, they are designed as "pas perdus" adapted to multiple functions. From the street, the liveliness of the building is perceptible. The lighting fixtures in the ceilings, visible from the outside, play an active part in the complex's constructive image.
