No smoking near ULiège buildings

And in some outdoor areas

In line with recent changes to Belgian legislation on smoking, the University of Liège is adapting its internal regulations to comply with the new provisions in force since 31 December 2024.

What's changing:

  • Smoking (including  tobacco, e-cigarettes, herbal products, etc.) is now prohibited within a 10-metre radius of the entrances and exits of all ULiège university buildings and libraries.
  • Smoking in the open air is also prohibited in certain specific outdoor areas: the Sart Tilman sports grounds (B21) and the educational farm (B39).

As a reminder: smoking is already prohibited inside all university buildings and in workspaces (offices, classrooms, technical rooms, company vehicles, etc.).

Signage will be installed to inform the university community of these new measures, and an awareness campaign will be launched in the coming weeks and months.

Ashtrays fixed to walls and located immediately outside building exits will gradually be removed and replaced by other appropriate solutions.

We are counting on your cooperation to ensure a healthy environment in which to live and work.
