The Aquapôle building was designed by Atelier d'Architecture de Lavaux, in association with Bureau d'Etudes Lemaire.

This project is the fruit of a team effort led by architect Pierre Pirard.

The construction itself was a joint venture between Wust and Moury.

The artistic component was not forgotten. It revolves around water:

  • Outside: a pool magnifies the entrance, sometimes as a calming element, sometimes as a dynamic one, thanks to the spillway. The footbridge, too, is an obligatory passage through the water.
  • Inside: a sculptural fountain by artist Michel François adorns the entrance hall. A trickle of water "falls from the sky" and is immediately absorbed into the ground. This fountain illustrates the symbolism of water, fleeting and rare, visible or invisible in all the complex circuits of its cycle. Presented at the Venice Biennale, it was donated to Aquapôle by the Walloon Government.
