Four young ULiège graduates win the HERA Awards 2023

The award ceremony will take place on Tuesday 25 April at 17:30

The Foundation for Future Generations, through the HERA Awards, rewards young graduates who have presented quality final year work on "transforming the world". Among the seven ULiège candidates of this 2023 edition, four are winners in their category. Congratulations!

ERA (Higher Education & Research Awards for Future Generations) is a program of excellence awards intended to support the demands and excellence of those - students and researchers - who integrate a transversal approach to sustainable development in their doctoral or master's theses in order to progressively inspire the entire academic community.

Among the seven young ULiège graduates nominated for this 2023 edition, four are winners in the categories of Sustainable & Responsible Finance; Sustainable Health; Sustainable Engineering and Award Sustainable Law.

They will be honored at the University of Liege during the HERA Awards ceremony! On the program of this home edition: interviews, testimonies, ideas to build a sustainable world... A 360° wind of positive energy for future generations!

The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, April 25 at 5:30 pm at the academic room with an introduction by the Rector Anne-Sophie NYSSEN and a conference by Sybille MERTENS, Advisor to the Rector of the ULiège for the environmental and social transition on the theme: "What university for what project of society? Aspirations, blockages and transitions".

Cécilia Labiouse - Master's Thesis Award Sustainable & Responsible Finance

Cécilia Labiouse completed her Master's degree in Management Sciences at HEC Liège (ULiège School of Management) in September 2022. She is currently a business analyst at Deloitte Belgium.

Her thesis: "The link between shareholding and the ESG score of companies"

Éléa Piccard - Master's Thesis Award Sustainable Health

Eléa Piccard completed her Master of Science in Public Health at Faculty of Medicine in September 2022. She is currently an occupational therapist at the CHU of Liège and at the CHC Mont-Légia clinic.

Her thesis: "Study of the integration of a green and sustainable component in the education of the asthmatic patient at the pharmacy"

Yannis Govaerts - Master's Thesis HERA Award Sustainable Engineering

Yannis Govaerts finished his Master's degree in Bioengineering in Environmental Sciences and Technologies at the Faculty of Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech in May 2022. He is currently an independent developer of individual wastewater treatment systems.

His thesis: "Transition perspectives of the individual sanitation sector in Wallonia"

Romain Defrang - Master's Thesis HERA Award Sustainable Law

Romain Defrang finished his Master's degree in Architecture at Faculty of Architecture in June 2021. He is currently an architect at atelier chora (Liège).

His thesis: Could the development of residents' cooperatives become a strategy for the future of urban housing in the face of current challenges? Switzerland as a model of cooperative housing.

Marie Collard - Master's Thesis Award Sustainable & Responsible Finance

Marie Collard completed her Master's degree in Agroecology at the Faculty of Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech and at ULB in September 2022. She is currently a researcher at the Centre wallon de Recherches agronomiques (Cra-W).

Her thesis: "Evaluating and monitoring the global performance of agricultural enterprises: experimentation of the CARE-TDL method, multi-capital accounting applied to the Tige Cointinne cooperative"

Lorren Mernier - Master's Thesis Award Sustainable & Responsible Finance

Lorren Mernier completed her Master's degree in Management Sciences at HEC Liège (ULiège School of Management) in January 2023. She is currently a PhD student in sustainable finance.

Her thesis: "The practices to avoid greenwashing through EU regulations and their sustainable impact on the financial sector"

Anissa Lkhamrichi - Master's Thesis HERA Award Sustainable Behaviour

Anissa Lkhamrichi completed her Master's degree in Civil Architectural Engineering at Faculty of Applied Sciences in September 2022. She is currently an animator in the association La Fresque du climat.

Her thesis: La Fresque de la Terre crue: un outil de sensibilisation pour déconstruire les préjugés et obstacles à l'utilisation de ce matériau en Belgique.
