This building, located on Quai Roosevelt along the Meuse river, was built in 1886 and extended in 1891. Its façade on the Meuse side is entirely clad in limestone.
Originally intended for the Institut de Chimie, the building features an entrance door (now condemned) framed by pedestals and surmounted by an entablature bearing the inscription "Institut Walthère Spring".
It was completely renovated in 1995 to house the Historical Sciences and the Royal University Theatre.
The building currently houses the following departments and services:

- Royal University Theatre of Liège (TURLg)
On request, the public and school groups can discover the Prehistory collections, located in the basement of the building.
