This equipment includes a fibre optic backbone with a capacity of several times 10 Gbps covering the entire Sart Tilman area and Downtown buildings, high-speed connection to remote sites, dual Internet access at 10 Gbps (through BELNET), 25,000 wired connection points, 1,500 WiFi access points !

As a university, our network must offer a very high level of security while keeping a very wide open mind to the world. This challenge is achieved by a double security, one global at the junction between the network and the Internet, the other using the segmentation of the networks attached to the backbone, into "differentiated zones" for which the filtering rules for incoming and outgoing traffic can be modulated according to local requirements.

These characteristics allow the implementation of advanced applications: IP telephony, video streaming, videoconferencing, podcasting...

By simply requesting a ULiège identifier and password, allowing him to access various network services, the user is subject to the regulation of Internet use and particularly its Belgian component reserved for teaching and research: the federal infrastructure BELNET. He therefore undertakes to respect the ethics of Internet access for ULiège staff.
